Cats are members of the ancestor "Felidea". Amazingly enough, the cat family divided from the other animals at least 40,000,000 years ago, which makes them one of the oldest mammalian ascendants. All cats share specific individual characteristics that are unique to the cat family.

felines are consummate meat eating mammals. Felines require a high level of protein in their food, as much as 30%, also lacking the tummy to do well on a diet of vegetables, fruits or fruits.
